09 Sep
Lieutenant Colonel Le Minh Duong, Director of Viettel Kon Tum, said that applying technology can help detect rats, thieves, monitor weather, pests, etc. to effectively protect Ngoc Linh ginseng gardens.
The information was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Le Minh Duong at a workshop organized by the Department of Science and Technology of Kon Tum province on May 15.
According to Mr. Duong, Kon Tum currently has about 2,400 households growing Ngoc Linh ginseng, with an area of 4,000 hectares, concentrated in Tu Mo Rong and Dak Glei districts. This species grows and develops at an altitude of over 1,200 m, so most of them do not have electricity, phone and internet signals, etc.

The lack of technology application will cause growers to suffer losses due to theft (human and rats); lack of centralized data, difficulty in tracing the origin, loss of confidence in Ngoc Linh ginseng products.
Lieutenant Colonel Duong proposed using IoT and AI technology to monitor thieves and rats entering the garden to destroy ginseng. In addition, this technology can monitor temperature, weather, rainfall, light, soil pH… optimizing costs and labor efficiency.
In addition, investing in technology helps trace the origin, planting history, prevent fake ginseng… He said that the most modern solution is to build a Smart Operations Center to manage and monitor the entire ginseng garden remotely on PC, Web, App.
He also suggested that Kon Tum province support network operators to deploy technology infrastructure; support management software costs for households, cooperatives and ginseng growing enterprises.
